4 Fun Facts About Our Gatlinburg TN Restaurant

When you visit The Park Grill, it is much more than just your typical dining experience. Our restaurant is full of fascinating artwork, incredible history, and an astonishing location in the Smoky Mountains. In order to learn more about us, we have put together this list of 4 fun facts about our Gatlinburg TN restaurant:

1. Establishing the Foundation

Welcome to The Grill sign at The Park Grill in GatlinburgWhile we may be known for our delicious entrees and abundant salad bar, our history goes all the way back to the wood that was used to build our restaurant. The lumber that was used to build The Park Grill was taken from old spruce trees in the Payette National Forest in Idaho. The logs that were selected were dead, and many of them were hand-chosen due to unique markings. Once the wood was selected, it was transported all across the country before it made its way to East Tennessee. The Smoky Mountains are filled with a ton of history and tradition, and we are so proud to share in the heritage!

2. From Model to Perfection

Once the lumber left Idaho, it landed in Timber, Oregon where the prefabrication process began. Each individual log was hand-peeled using sharp knives and was sent to the milling area, where they were cut to the length of what needed to be done to build our famous Gatlinburg TN restaurant. How did they know what size each log needed to be? Well, throughout every step of the process, there was a scale model of the final product to ensure everything went according to plan. Once every log was checked thoroughly, it took 7 flatbed trucks to transport the lumber to Gatlinburg for construction to begin.

3. More Homemade Mastery

Inside, you will find stonework that is the perfect complement to the wooden decor. All of the stone used throughout the restaurant came from rock fences in a small area of Tennessee known as Cosby! As you approach the doors of our restaurant, you may notice the wooden red rocking chairs on the patio. Those were also handmade by a local resident. As you can see, the attention to detail in every aspect of our business is one of the many things that makes us unique.
